Loretta Maldonado, 42, of Kalispell pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a weapon in Flathead County District Court on Thursday.

Maldonado is accused of tracking down a man using digital technology and threatening him with a loaded pistol.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at 2:35 a.m. June 4. Witnesses told deputies that Maldonado allegedly entered a property on Goodrich Road in Kalispell “dragging a rifle in one hand and holding a pistol in the other,” according to court documents.

She reportedly pointed the pistol at a man and demanded that the two talk. The man told officers he knocked the pistol from Maldonado’s hand and she fled on foot.

Officers located Maldonado walking nearby. She reportedly admitted using a Global Positioning System signal to track him, then brought the weapons to the property, according to court documents. Officers located the weapons and found the pistol was loaded.

A jury trial is set to begin Jan. 1, 2017.
