Whitefish bridge to close on weekdays

The Columbia Avenue bridge in Whitefish will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Monday through Friday from Aug. 1 through Aug. 26 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This closure is to accommodate the installation of a new water main.

The bridge will be closed to traffic during construction for the week of Aug. 8; otherwise, one lane of traffic will generally be open during construction. Both lanes of traffic will be open outside of construction hours. No pedestrians will be allowed on the bridge during construction.

East 13th Street will remain open from U.S. 93 to the bridge for the duration of the project in order to maintain access to the existing businesses.

Southbound traffic on Columbia Avenue should use East Ninth Street to U.S. 93 as a detour.

Residents on Columbia Avenue and East 13th Street may experience times without water service.

These disruptions will be kept to a minimum and notification will be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance of planned disruptions.
