POLSON — Jake Halland homered, doubled twice and drove in five runs as the Kalispell Lakers AA went on the road and routed the Mission Valley Mariners 20-5 Wednesday night.

Halland doubled in a run in his first at bat, walked in the second inning, hit a three-run homer in the third and had another run-scoring double in the fourth before walking once more in the fifth. He finished officially 3 for 4 at the plate and wrapped up his night with a scoreless seventh inning on the mound, striking out a pair.

The Lakers led 3-2 after two innings before Halland’s home run keyed a six-run third that bloated Kalispell’s lead. The visitors tacked on seven more runs over the next two frames of a game that was shortened to seven innings by the 10-run rule.

The Lakers outhit the Mariners 17-8, getting three singles from ninth-place hitter Jayson Combs and two hits each from Patrick O’Connell, Spencer Pisk, Micah Benson and Jonas Nyman. Ten of the Lakers’ 17 hits went for extra bases, including a double and triple from Benson and two O’Connell two-baggers.

Starter Logan DeCock earned the win, going three innings and allowing one earned run.

Jacob Harrod led Mission Valley with three hits, including a double. Bransen Krebs drove in two runs in a losing effort.
