WHITEFISH — It wasn’t easy for either side, but the Glacier Twins’ A and B teams both won for the fourth straight game at the Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat tournament on Saturday at Memorial Park, keeping alive the possibility of an all-Glacier championship game for the second straight year.

As has been the case for much of the tournament, Glacier’s A team again took advantage of a terrific pitching performance in a 3-1 win over Kootenai Valley. The Rangers had only two hits in the contest against Skylar Warner, who pitched the first five innings, and Vinny Smith.

The Twins A scored single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings despite only five hits. Tristin Steinwand, James Sampson-Keck and Smith had the RBIs.

The Twins B set up the title game rematch with a dramatic extra-inning win against Belgrade, prevailing 5-3 in eight innings. Caleb Meehan ignited the winning rally when he walked to lead off the inning, stole second, stole third and scored on a Jared Reynolds sacrifice fly.

Meehan had one of four Glacier hits in the win. Tom Hellwig got the start on the mound and was replaced by Matthew Morrison, who pitched a scoreless last three innings to earn the victory.

The first semifinal game is scheduled for 11 a.m. today with the second semi to follow. The two winners will meet for the tournament championship at 4 p.m.
