LAW ROUNDUP: Couple drunkenly laugh off alleged abuse

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies found a woman and man laughing and joking about not getting along after she called from Hungry Horse to report that the man had been drinking for the past couple of days and hitting her. The woman also said that the man threatened to shoot her. A dispatcher noted that the woman might have also been drinking. A deputy escorted the woman to a safe place and told her to not come back to the property that day.

A woman called from Grand Drive in Bigfork to report that her boyfriend had allegedly pushed and punched her, after making off with her car keys and iPad. The man left, but the woman was afraid to go home until the man had been caught.

A bank worker called from Whitefish to report that a man had torn out of the drive-through when told that the bank had to check on something about a fake check. The man left his driver’s license behind. An officer was able to tell the teller that the man was familiar to authorities from other alleged offenses including theft and forgery.

A woman called from Olney to report that she had given her baby to its father six weeks earlier when she was moving in with a new boyfriend. The mother wanted the child back, but could not find the father. There was no parenting plan in place.

A woman called from Eckleberry Drive in Columbia Falls to report that she came home to find that there was a possibly pregnant pig in her garden. The woman offered to hold the pig until its owner was found.

A deputy found that a man and woman had been in a lover’s spat after the man called from Columbia Falls to report that the woman had threatened to stab him. The woman promised to be nicer in the future.


Whitefish Police left a woman in the care of her mother after she reported that her drunken boyfriend had hit her in the forehead and shoved her before he took off on foot.

An officer was able to locate stolen items, return them to a store and take a man into custody after a shoplifter was reported off U.S. 93.

A 23-year-old man was booked for criminal endangerment, driving under the influence of alcohol, criminal mischief, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident after he allegedly hit a Subaru and ran over a sidewalk after drinking. An officer found that as many as three vehicles might have been hit in the incident. A man called 911 and said that he had the alleged perpetrator pinned in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.


Columbia Falls Police performed extra patrol, but did not find a suspicious woman seen along Ninth Street West.


Parties were counseled by Kalispell Police at a location off East Idaho Street after a worker reported that a 17-year-old co-worker allegedly had sex with a 40-year-old manager in order to get a raise.

A person called from East Idaho Street to report that two men were making out in the parking lot when the encounter appeared to turn violent with the man in the driver’s seat punching the man in the passenger seat. The witness worried the man in the passenger seat might have been knocked out. An officer was unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
