Bruce W. Metz, 64

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Crescent City, Illinois, for Bruce W. Metz, 64, of Marion, formerly of Crescent City who passed away Feb. 17, 2016, at his home in Marion.

He was born on May 18, 1951, the son of Vesta Metz and William Metz (deceased).

Surviving are his mother; sisters, Beth Schoolman of Sheldon, Illinois, and Becky and Web Bohn of Martinton, Illinois; two nephews, Cory Butler, and Nic and Lindsay Bohn; and four nieces, Robyn Butler, Kristy and Nic Arie, Katy Bohn, and Sara and Gabe Weiss. Also surviving are two great-nephews and four great-nieces. He also leaves behind his dog Moof.

Bruce graduated from Crescent-Iroquois High School in 1969. He then enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971.

After traveling around and working various jobs in Illinois, Missouri, Montana and Utah, he settled in “one of the most beautiful places in the world” — Montana. This place was perfect for the avid hunter and fisherman that he was. He also loved his gardening, cooking, canning and wine making.

Cremation rites will take place and ashes spread over McGregor Lake in Montana at a later date.
