It was a party on wheels

A Diane Road resident called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a loud party. The caller could hear “loud booming music” and people talking. Officers discovered the noise was actually coming from a vehicle, which left the area without incident.

A caller on Nucleus Avenue reported a group of five young people involved in a physical altercation in front of a business. When an officer arrived on scene, the subjects allegedly broke up immediately and went inside the business. All of the subjects then denied any kind of fight had been taking place.


A Colorado Avenue resident called the Whitefish Police Department when an unfamiliar truck dropped off two unknown women in the caller’s driveway. The women left, but the caller said the truck had come back and was continuing to hang around.

A pedestrian found a cell phone and some credit cards on the trail behind the U.S. Post Office on Baker Avenue, and took the items to the police station to turn them in.

A West Second Street resident called to report blankets and other debris blowing into the river nearby. Officers checked it out, and said it looked like a previous camping site for squatters who had moved on.

An employee at a U.S. 93 South business called when another employee didn’t show up for work and hadn’t picked up his paycheck. The caller was concerned about the employee’s well-being because it was very unusual behavior. Officers were able to locate the employee at home, unharmed.

A caller on West Seventh Street reported seeing a man outside who was kicking a woman, then drug her across the driveway. The caller said there was a second man present who was also yelling at the woman. The woman was already on the ground when the first man kicked her again. Officers broke up the fight and arrests were made.

A Baker Avenue resident called to report several vehicles had pulled into the driveway twice in just a few minutes’ time. Officers provided extra patrols.

A Dakota Avenue resident told police that two people were trespassing in his house and refusing to leave. One subject left before officers arrived, and the other was warned.

A Baker Avenue resident called police when she found some “little white envelopes” while cleaning, and was concerned that the man to whom the envelopes belonged might be using drugs.

A caller told police there was a car with its lights on in the parking lot behind a Central Avenue business. The caller also said there appeared to be people sleeping in the vehicle, which had been at the same location for an hour and a half. Officers checked on the report, and spoke with the two occupants of the vehicle. They had been sleeping, and weren’t planning to drive.

Officers responded to a Central Avenue business after a 911 hang-up call from that location. Apparently there had been an incident at the front door of the establishment, but things had calmed down and police intervention wasn’t necessary.

Officers did intervene with a group of intoxicated men on East First Street who were yelling at each other. All the subjects agreed to leave.


The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a burn pile on Halfmoon Road, as well as reports of an outdoor gas odor on Gleneagles Trail.


The West Valley Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Farm to Market Road.
