LAW ROUNDUP: Can I shoot a mountain lion, officer?
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office fielded a call from a man who wanted to know whether or not he was allowed to shoot a mountain lion that was allegedly seen in his yard. The man was referred to fish and game officers.
Kalispell Police responded to North Meridian Road and Appleway Drive, where someone reported that a pedestrian had been hit by a short-bed truck. The victim allegedly went under the truck’s tires and appeared to have been injured. The victim allegedly got up and left in a vehicle. An officer ran the license plate number that was taken down by a witness and found that the suspect vehicle had an inactive registration to a rental company.
An officer found an empty lobby after going to the police station to speak with a woman who showed up and said she was bleeding from the head after her boyfriend allegedly hit her with a cup during an argument in a vehicle.
An officer made sure a 1-year-old child was properly secured in a safety seat after someone spotted the youngster riding in the front seat, not properly restrained.
An officer got a drunk man to move along after he allegedly harassed girls and made sexual advances toward them while outside of a shopping center. The man also allegedly tried to talk to kids and knocked on the windows of a vehicle prior to the officer’s arrival.
A back window was broken out of a vehicle on West Idaho Street and a wallet was stolen.
An officer determined that someone had likely found stolen property after a delivery man reported that latex gloves and multiple rounds of ammunition were found near a playground on Fourth Avenue East.
A boy on Second Street West was found to be fine after someone called and said the elementary-aged child had his thumb out and appeared to be hitchhiking. The boy had walked into a nearby school by the time an officer arrived.
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office logged a report about a utility trailer that was stolen from Bitterroot Drive just outside of Kalispell. There was not any loot for the thieves to make off with in the trailer.
A woman on Deer Trail near Whitefish reported that her house had been paintballed and egged again. The woman asked for extra patrol and said that she would draw up some fliers to place around the neighborhood to see if parents might turn in kids who had paint guns.
A parent reported that two brothers had been sexually harassing both boys and girls on a school bus. A report was taken.
A distressed woman called and asked for an officer to be dispatched to a location on West Valley Road. She hung up, but not before a dispatcher could hear her screaming and cursing in the background. When an officer responded, he or she found a man and woman who denied there had ever been a disturbance at all.
A person in Hungry Horse called and reported that there was an out-of-control woman in the house yelling and banging on the counter with a spoon. The woman allegedly had been drinking. She eventually settled down and went to sleep, but a deputy was called again when she woke up and resumed drinking. The deputy advised the caller to think about removing alcohol from the home because it seemed to exacerbate an existing head injury the woman had.
A drunken man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant after he allegedly refused a ride home five times. The man allegedly tripped and hit his head and nose, but refused medical.
A deputy talked with a family via telephone after a man called from Columbia Falls to report that his wife was screaming and had tried to hit the window of his vehicle out with a shovel. The man said he thought he should leave. The woman was left at home with children ages 3 months, 3 years, and 8 years. Alcohol was not involved, but the man thought postpartum depression issues might be at play.
Whitefish Police got a call from a woman on Baker Avenue who reported that someone knocked over her yard lawn furniture and shouted profanities in the middle of the night.
A woman called from Baker Avenue to report that she had gone out to take her dog for a potty break and saw a man drop his pants. The indecent exposure incident was logged.
Columbia Falls Police took a report from a business on Ninth Street West where a man had allegedly stolen a pair of shoes. The business owner did not want to pursue charges.
