LAW ROUNDUP: No 'fowl play' involved in goose incident at park in Kalispell

Kalispell Police determined there was no criminal activity after a park worker received a complaint about someone feeding the ducks and then trying to throw a net over them. An officer found that a person was trying to catch a goose that had fishing line caught around its leg. The fishing line was not removed, though it appeared that the waterfowl could still walk, run and fly.

An officer responded after a thief allegedly was caught on camera stealing a package of “Magic: The Gathering” playing cards that were worth $1,000. Security footage was handed over as part of the investigation.

A woman on Second Avenue West North told officers she was going to bed, but to call if they needed any more information after she allegedly had a middle-aged man in a bandanna come and bang on her door, asking to use the phone. The woman refused because she thought something did not seem right about him.

A woman on Carnegie Drive was upset after a possible home buyer showed up to view her property and was greeted by her neighbor’s large dog.

The animal allegedly jumped all over the buyer and the deal was nixed. A citation for allowing an animal to run at large was left for the dog’s owner.

A caller was counseled after she said that she was in the store last week and there was an older gentleman in line buying “My Little Pony” stuff. The woman asked the man how old his daughter was and he said he didn’t have a daughter. The woman thought the man’s behavior was suspicious.

A business owner on Heritage Way asked that a handgun left behind in a restroom by an unknown customer be collected.

A laughing drunk man was cared for by medics after he called dispatchers and said that his tent was near Ashley Creek and the structure had just “blown up.” The man said he got drunk, lit a cigarette and then the tent blew up. The man planned to stay near the tent remnants because there was a heater nearby to keep him warm. The man was found with burns on his head.


Whitefish Police received a call from O’Brien Avenue where a woman found that someone had put two locks on the outside of her garage. The woman said she was going to cut the locks and would let officers know if she needed assistance.


Columbia Falls Police responded to a parking lot off U.S. 2 where a fellow driver had allegedly followed an aggressive driver. The aggressive driver allegedly was trying to run people off the road intentionally. A heated verbal argument followed and another person who had a problem with the aggressive driver’s conduct showed up and entered the fray. Someone threatened to get a gun at some point, but the firearm never made it out of a vehicle. One man was taken to jail.

A teen was told to follow up with school authorities and file a restraining order after his girlfriend’s father allegedly sent the boy a text saying he should break up with the girl or the father would end the relationship permanently.
