OPINION: Angry America has known causes and predictable consequences

Somehow or other, the Trump Train seems to keep rolling along despite the best efforts of the Republican power brokers. Both Rubio and Kasich must now huddle in the corner and determine what’s next? But it has become quite clear to the populace that neither one of these individuals stands a chance to win anything.

Meanwhile, over in the other corner Cruz is licking his chops over the opportunity to go one-on-one with the Donald. Both men have similar agendas and both men are greatly hated and despised by the Republican establishment.

Hillary got her butt handed to her in Michigan, and I would have to assume that came as quite a shock to the entire Democratic elite. But Bernie Sanders like Trump and Cruz is the voice on the other side of the political fence who is mad as hell and isn’t going to take it any more from the big wigs on Wall Street.

There is a swelling anger in this country, and with each passing day it grows and increases in intensity. For decades the system of government in this country has been on a downward spiral brought on by the greed and corruption of both political parties. The system of a “royal government” since 1960 has existed with the advent of congressional and presidential retirements and coupled with the increase in taxes to support the system and the reduction of wages and the loss of jobs to overseas employers. It has now come to a point where these frustrations are now boiling and, if not checked, will have dire consequences on this nation.

From Korea to the present day mess in the Middle East, our political leaders in both parties have sent young men and women into political wars and with no real objective to winning that war. President Eisenhower in his farewell address to the nation, put the populace on notice with his statement to beware of the military-industrial complex.

Unfortunately; we as a people did not heed that warning and have allowed our political leaders to spend trillions of dollars and wasted thousands of lives for no real gain, except to line the pockets of our political leaders and the merchants who peddle weapons of destruction. We are still the biggest military power on the face of this planet, but for decades we have squandered the opportunity to use that power in a positive and productive manner.

Like Rome of yesteryears, we have tried to conquer territories and “nation build” at the expense of our own infrastructure. We have allowed our bridges, roads and buildings to fall into disrepair. We have allowed our educational system to fall apart at the seams and produce thousands of uneducated individuals with degrees that are totally useless in the modern world. We are becoming a nation of titles, with no substance.

We are at the crossroads as a nation, and I do not mean a crossroads in a political sense, but in the sense of a republic and a democratic way of life. For we as a people either take it upon ourselves to enact some common sense agendas into our lives and start to take care of our own and start to heal the rift between ourselves as Americans, or we will go to war within and destroy the very republic.
