The city of Kalispell on Monday opened the bidding process for three infrastructure improvement projects.

The city has released a request for qualifications for a firm to serve as a consulting engineer for Kalispell Kidsports improvements.

The city and the Kidsports Association received a $1.4 million grant to pay for infrastructure needed for the expansion of Kidsports by seven new multipurpose fields and one new baseball field.

Kalispell Planning and Building Director Tom Jentz said the city hopes to break ground on the project by July at the earliest.

The infrastructure project includes installing irrigation systems, valves, services and a sprinkler system to water the new fields from both an existing well and the public water supply; water main extension for service to the new facilities; sewer system extension; storm water management system; access roads, parking lot areas and approach connections.

Statements of qualifications are due to the Kalispell city clerk at City Hall by 5 p.m. on March 29.

The city also is accepting bids for a water project on Second Avenue East.

The project includes installing 723-feet of 8-inch PVC pipe, valves, fittings, fire hydrants, water service connections and surface restoration.

The city will hold a pre-bid meeting at 2 p.m. March 24 in the lower-level conference room of City Hall. Bids are due by 3 p.m. on March 31.

The third project to be bid out by the city involves sidewalk and curb construction through the end of the year. The project consists of materials, labor and equipment for replacing or constructing sidewalk, curbs, gutters, driveway approaches and restorative landscaping.

Bids for this project are due at 2:30 p.m. on March 31.
