Injured skier airlifted to safey

A Flathead County woman was airlifted from the Snowshoe Creek drainage in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Sunday afternoon, after sustaining an injury while skiing.

Her friend found cellphone reception on top of a nearby ridge and called the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Dispatch, and the Two Bear Air Rescue helicopter from the Flathead Valley was brought in to assist.

The victim was transported to the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby.

On Saturday, Kalispell Police officers arrested a man with an outstanding warrant from Philadelphia and charged him with an open-container violation and disorderly conduct. A Two Mile Drive resident had described him as a Russian man with red beard who was looking in her window for about seven minutes, then started tapping on it and speaking Russian. He left, then returned with a beer about two hours later.

Two young males in a truck were reportedly smoking dope from a long black pipe and flipping off other drivers who weren’t going fast enough on U.S. 93.

A resident on Third Avenue East called police Sunday to report a pair of men with metal detectors. The treasure hunters are regular springtime visitors, the resident said, but were now entering neighbors’ yards. One was allegedly wearing kneepads.

On Hutton Ranch Road, a caller said that two children were holding American Heart Association signs with a donation jar in front of them. The caller was concerned about the parents who were sitting in a nearby car and appeared to be “doing some type of drugs.”

A truck hauling a trailer unsuccessfully negotiated the corner of Third Avenue and Center Street, taking out the stop sign in the process. A bystander called police, concerned the driver wouldn’t report the incident after driving away.

A lanky man hanging out in a parking lot on Airport Road appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Officers and paramedics responded and requested backup after he became combative.

A man was cited at a business on Third Avenue East North for attempting to steal Milk Duds.

A Fourth Avenue West resident was suspicious of three people who appeared to be doing drugs in a vehicle. When officers arrived on the scene, a nearby shed had been broken into.

Police cited a woman for attempting to steal makeup at a business on Third Avenue East.

The driver of a minivan with flames painted on it allegedly shot out a window with a BB gun.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a “critter stuck in a hole at Woodland skate park.”

A woman in Hungry Horse reported her dog missing, then stolen, after finding pictures of her dog on the alleged thief’s Facebook page.

A brown Chihuahua named Ratdog was reported missing in Kalispell.

The dispatch center fielded a report of “shady characters” claiming they owned a trailer that had been picked up months ago by a deputy.

Whitefish Police received a report that an employee at a local lodge had stolen a guest’s backpack. The victim stated he did not want to press charges.
