LAW ROUNDUP: Driver crunches mailboxes on Martini

A Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy found that four or five mailboxes had been taken out by a driver on Martini Lane. The victims’ contact information was forwarded to the trooper who worked the crash.

A person on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse reported two separate instances where shots had been fired in his or her yard the past few days. The victim had an idea who the suspect might be.


Someone called Kalispell Police Department to report that someone in a green minivan with flames painted on the bottom had shot out the back window of another vehicle on Second Street West. A possible suspect vehicle was located a while later.

A man and woman who were heard screaming near a drive-through on East Center Street agreed to separate for the evening.

A man allegedly vandalized a vehicle on First Avenue West. It was discovered he was wanted on warrants out of Columbia Falls City Court and was on probation for bail jumping, issuing a bad check and forgery.

A person on Eighth Avenue West reported that several items were found in his or her backyard that were believed to have been stolen including a Nikon camera, Ryobi drill set, chainsaw and a boat motor.

A woman on Eighth Avenue West wanted to press charges for a dog at large after the pooch was caught in her yard again. The woman said the amorous pup had already made puppies with her dog once, but that thankfully, the dog was not currently in heat. The case was documented and animal control tried to make contact with the owner.


A Columbia Falls Police officer told a family on Falls Loop that extra patrol would be done in the area after someone found a tent that had blown into a yard. An officer did not believe anyone had been living in the tent and its box was left with the property owners in case someone wanted to claim it.

An officer found all to be OK after someone reported a sound that might have been a gunshot on Second Avenue West. The officer concluded that a car door might have been slammed loudly.


Whitefish Police relocated a vehicle to the police station after the owner was found to have a canceled registration for failure to maintain insurance.
