Fear of bomb threat was overblown
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office investigated after a woman reported that someone was posting on social media about possibly bombing something the next day. A deputy determined that the subject was flagged as being mentally disturbed and that the messages were religious rants without a specific threat made about bombing anything.
A vehicle that had been stolen was found on Anderson Lane after someone reported that the vehicle was parked in a driveway without permission and that two men were working on the vehicle. The men were gone by the time officers arrived.
A man called to report that three-quarters of a cord of firewood had been stolen from Braig Lane in Columbia Falls. The man later called back and said that his neighbor had confessed to taking the firewood. The neighbor allegedly said that he thought the wood was on public property and was fair game to take. The owner said that he probably would have given the wood to the neighbor anyway if the neighbor had asked. The owner did not want to pursue charges, but did want a deputy to talk to the neighbor about taking things without permission.
Whitefish Police responded to East Second Street, where an officer fielded a call about a theft and someone impersonating an officer.
A woman called for help finding $2,000 that was allegedly lost from a bag in her motel room, but when an officer arrived she slammed her door shut and told the officer she was going to take her dog for a walk.
Columbia Falls Police investigated a case of a suspicious man knocking on a drive-through window. It was unknown if the suspect might have been a man who had been harassing employees.
