OPINION: 'Don't be afraid?' Tell that to the Europeans
Please allow me to address the “Don’t be afraid” sentiments we are hearing from people who think there is nothing wrong with bringing in “unvetted” refugees.
Now a proud U.S. citizen, I was born and raised in Belgium. My family and many friends are still living there. Last October I visited my birth country and my “favorite city” — Brussels. People who know me can confirm that when I came back, I told them that “I didn’t care if I ever saw Brussels again.” Something wasn’t right … the city had changed dramatically in the last two years. You could feel it, see it. My family told me they would be glad to go with me, but they did not go there anymore otherwise.
This brings me to the issue called the “myth of integration.” It is a dangerous assumption that we all have that underpins this insanity. That assumption is this: As soon as the refugees get here, they will assimilate into our country and adopt our values. That worked for non-Muslim Europeans from my husband’s grandparents to myself. But it never seems to work with large groups of Muslims. The evidence is overwhelming.
Just look at the last few terrorist attacks in the EU. Brussels, Paris ... nearly every one of the jihadists were second- or third-generation European Muslims (so much for integration). How do you explain the massive Muslim neighborhoods under sharia law spreading throughout Europe if integration works? And today, we have news that a majority of “refugees” in Europe are completely illiterate (adult men) and have absolutely no chance of integrating into the labor market. So they will be a massive drain on the social welfare system and a major risk for committing crime/jihad.
Integration has never worked in the 1,400 years of Islamic history. Multiculturalism with Islam equates to a death sentence for the non-Muslim culture/society. Yes, 1,400 years of history shows this is always the case. And per the Pew Research Center (statistics shared below) there is massive support for suicide bombings to bring about sharia law among European Muslims.
Another myth is that democracy and sharia law can work together. Free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of the press do not exist under sharia law.
The “vast majority” of refugees in Europe are not women and children, despite the claims of the previous op-ed writer. They are young men. In the European cities you now see huge marauding groups of young Arabic men everywhere. European women are being told “how to dress and how act in order to avoid being sexually assaulted.” I remember before moving to Egypt, where we lived in the 1980s, how we had been given big folders on “what to do and not do” while interacting with Egyptians. Now we are being told “what to do and what not to do” in our own countries. This sounds like “mono-culturalism” to me.
Here are some startling statistics from a survey done by Pew Research in 2007:
—26 percent of younger Muslims in America believe suicide bombings are justified.
—35 percent of young Muslims in Britain believe suicide bombings are justified (24 percent overall).
—42 percent of young Muslims in France believe suicide bombings are justified (35 percent overall).
—22 percent of young Muslims in Germany believe suicide bombings are justified (13 percent overall).
—29 percent of young Muslims in Spain believe suicide bombings are justified (25 percent overall).
