Evelyn Thompson, 80

| May 8, 2016 6:30 AM

Evelyn Thompson, 80, of Columbia Falls, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, in Tijuana, Mexico, after battling cancer and various complications for 10 weeks.

Evelyn was most well known as a successful businesswoman as a third owner and founder of RBM Lumber in Columbia Falls. She was a hard worker right up to the day she died, and for many years was head sawyer and ran the production crew at RBM Lumber. She was selected as the “Small Business Woman of the Year” by the Small Business Administration in 1997. But her greatest accomplishments were the raising of her family and her own personal growth, which gave her the strength to be the one to whom countless friends, employees and family members went during times of difficulties and need.

She always loved life and the simple things in life like growing flowers and making her home and yard beautiful. Through her struggles she always remained positive and never turned away someone in need. She was truly an icon to all those who knew her and will always be missed and remembered.

She was preceded in death by her three older brothers; and survived by her four children, their father and 11 grandchildren.

Please join us in a memorial celebration remembering her life and accomplishments, starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at RBM Lumber, with sharing of memories at 2 p.m. There will be food and beverages served and potluck items will be welcome. RSVP greatly appreciated.
