Legion baseball: Libby drops opener to Pioneers

LIBBY — Libby matched the Missoula Pioneers in hits, but not in runs as the visitors pulled out a 4-0 victory to spoil the American Legion baseball season opener for the hosts at their annual Loggertown Wood Bat Classic Friday night.

Both teams had four hits.

Tournament play continues today at 10 a.m. Libby hosts Mission Valley at 8 p.m.

LIBBY — James Dunn had two hits in two trips to the plate, drove in two runs and scored twice to help the Kootenai Valley Rangers crush Clark Fork in the opening game of the Loggertown Wood Bat Classic.

Sam Hannay, 1 for 2, also drove in two runs for the Rangers. Connor Harmon and Hank Dunnboth both scored three times.

Kootenai Valley’s next tournament game is Sunday at 11:15 a.m. versus Missoula.
