Deer and drivers don't mix

A driver called the Whitefish Police Department when a deer ran into his truck on U.S. 93 South. The caller was concerned the deer was badly injured and might have needed to be dispatched, but by the time officers arrived the deer had gotten up and wandered away. Officers helped the driver assess damage to his vehicle.

A driver struck and killed a deer on East Lakeshore Drive. Officers helped the driver assess damage and called the North Valley Food Bank to pick up the carcass.

Someone reportedly found syringes in a parking lot on Spokane Avenue and turned them in to the police department.

A generous donor bought some children’s toys and brought them to the police department as a donation.

A concerned caller on U.S. 93 South reported a dog inside a vehicle panting heavily. Officers checked on the animal and determined the vehicle’s windows were down and the dog was fine. The owners were inside a restaurant eating.

A driver was pulled over on Park Knoll Lane for not having working tail lights. Officers advised her to drive the rest of the way home with flashers on for safety.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a power line emergency on South Main Street, and the South Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on U.S. 93 South.
