Kila residents go hog wild

A Kila Road resident as well as several passers-by called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a wild hog on the loose. The resident later told deputies he was able to approach and pet the animal and believed it belonged to someone in the area. The man was able to lure the pig into a pen so it was out of harm’s way until the owner could be located.

A resident on Whitefish Stage Road reported that his motorcycle was stolen from a shed in his yard. The man did have the suspects on surveillance footage from his security cameras.

A burglary was reported on East Evergreen Drive after a resident found broken windows and items missing.

Deputies picked up a dog that had been running loose on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell. The dog, reportedly a male yellow lab with a red collar and no tags, was taken to the shelter.

A caller on Flathead Lake Place in Bigfork reported a couple of men walking through the neighborhood who appeared to be casing houses. Officers located the men, who both had legitimate business in the area.

A driver called to report that Rabe Road in Columbia Falls was flooded. The caller said there was 3 or 4 inches of water on the road and thought the corner might be washed out completely. Deputies put out cones to alert drivers of the potential hazard, and notified the road department to check on the area.

An employee at a U.S. 2 East business called when he found some unauthorized people going through cabinets. The employee said he asked them to leave, but they refused. Deputies told the pair to move on.


A caller told the Whitefish Police Department that a man was harassing staff and customers at a Central Avenue business after being asked to leave the business because he couldn’t provide identification. Officers were unable to locate the disorderly man.

A driver reported that someone had moved construction cones into the road on Baker Avenue.


The Columbia Falls Police Department responded to reports of a power lines emergency on Eighth Street West.


The Whitefish Fire Department performed an elevator rescue on U.S. 93 South.
