STATE SOFTBALL: Glasgow knocks out Ronan in Class B/C

Ronan found 13 hits and seven runs against Glasgow, but couldn’t get outs when it counted, falling to the Scotties 10-7 in a loser-out game on Friday afternoon at the Class B/C state softball tournament at Kidsports Complex.

The top-seeded Maidens rallied to take the lead twice but surrendered five runs in the sixth inning. They were able to get back one in the bottoom of the frame but couldn’t get any closer.

Amanda Morency was 3 for 3 with a double in the game and helped pull the Maidens ahead 3-2 after allowing two runs in the top of the first. Ronan also scored three runs in the fifth inning to retake a 6-4 lead before the big Scottie inning ended their season.

Glasgow pitcher Tyra Johnson was 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs and catcher Ziggy Chamberlain was 3 for 3 with a double and a home run.

Glasgow ralled to win again against Stillwater (Columbus-Park City-Absarokee) before falling in the fourth place game against Huntley Project.

Conrad-Choteau and future Griz pitcher Tristin Achenbach stole the show on Friday, however. The Cowgirls won three games to advance to the state championship, beating Florence 10-0 in six innings in the semifinals. Conrad also picked up wins against Plains-Hot Springs and Stillwater.

Florence, the third seed from the West, beat Huntley Project in the second round to advance to the semis. The Falcons will meet Huntley again in the third-place game at 10 a.m. today. The winner of that game advances to the championship against Conrad at noon, with a second championship to be played at 2 p.m. should either team upset the Cowgirls.
