Child takes golf cart for joyride

A caller told the Kalispell Police Department that there was a young child driving around on a golf cart unsupervised near Palmer Drive. The caller was concerned for the child’s safety because the cart was going “very fast.” Officers made contact with the responsible adults, and they agreed to keep children off the golf cart.

A woman called police after her license plates were allegedly stolen off her vehicle while she was shopping at a store on U.S. 93 South.

A caller told police a man had taken just-donated items from a U.S. 93 South business. Officers were able to track down the suspect and recover the items. The man was cited for theft.

A Fifth Avenue East resident called police to report his vehicle had been broken into and several items stolen. Officers helped the man document the damages to the vehicle. The man said he suspected a former roommate was behind the break-in, but wasn’t sure if he wanted to pursue charges yet.

A caller reported a group of males “passing a pipe around, breaking bottles and yelling at people” near Woodland Park Drive. Officers spoke with the group in question and found no drugs and no broken glass. The group was advised to keep the noise down.

An employee of a business on Woodland Park Drive called for help with a “highly intoxicated man” who was causing problems and refusing to leave. Officers escorted the man home.

An employee at a business on U.S. 93 South called police upon finding a syringe in the bathroom. The caller requested officers pick up the paraphernalia.

An employee of a different U.S. 93 South business called to report that a group of teenagers allegedly stole some beer and then took off in a silver station wagon. Officers were unable to immediately locate the vehicle or the suspects, but they spoke with a manager about getting video surveillance footage in order to continue investigating.

Police took several calls about a man laying in the middle of the bike path near Appleway Drive. One caller said the man moved one leg as a bike went by, but made no effort to get up. Officers spoke with the man, who said he was just “sleeping it off.”

Someone called police to report a shirtless man “swinging a toaster around” near the courthouse and thought that was suspicious. The caller said the man looked like he was trying to get into buildings and was yelling. Officers were unable to locate the man.


A Spokane Avenue resident told the Whitefish Police Department that some neighbors had been harassing him and his family. He said the unruly neighbors were now yelling at people stopping at his yard sale. By the time officers arrived the primary suspect was gone, so the resident was advised to call back if the harassment continued upon the suspect’s return.

A Pine Avenue resident reported that several campaign signs had been stolen out of multiple yards in the area.

Someone found a small white dog without a collar on East Second Street, and turned the animal over to police for safekeeping.

A resident on West Eighth Street called police after his car was egged overnight while parked in his driveway.


The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle fire on U.S. 2 West.


The Evergreen Fire Department investigated reports of smoke outside on U.S. 2 East.
