Due to recent heavy rains and snowfall, permanent repairs on the Canyon Creek Road will not be completed until next summer, according to a press release from the Flathead National Forest.

Forest Road No. 316 on the Glacier View Ranger District will be open to snowmobile traffic on the groomed route this winter, however.

The road is open to motorized traffic 2.5 miles from the intersection with the main North Fork Road to the intersection of the Ninemile Road, Forest Road No. 316D. From there, Canyon Creek Road is closed 7 miles to the intersection with Forest Road No. 316C, the South Fork of Canyon Creek.

The Canyon Creek Road will reopen to motorized vehicle traffic when final roadwork is completed mid-summer.

Forest Road No. 316D is open during hunting season for hunters with disabilities. For more information, call 406-387-3800.
