Man, woman charged in Hungry Horse shooting

A boyfriend and girlfriend each face a felony charge of criminal endangerment after the couple allegedly got into a spat that ended in a shooting.

Joslyn Walker, 25, and Gary Schaefer, 28, are each being held in Flathead County Detention Center, with bail set at $20,000 in each case.

According to court documents, a man called from Fourth Avenue South in Hungry Horse on Oct. 30 at approximately 4 a.m. saying that he had heard a disturbance and saw a man and woman fighting. The woman allegedly went to her vehicle to retrieve something and then began shooting.

Deputies identified Walker and Schaefer as the man and woman involved. Schaefer told investigators that he and Walker left Packer’s Roost in their own vehicles and drove into Hungry Horse. Schaefer allegedly said that Walker exited her vehicle and started shooting at his truck in the residential area. Several .40 caliber casings and fired rounds were found in and on Schaeffer’s truck. Schaeffer’s truck had several bullet holes in it.

Schaeffer allegedly admitted that when Walker started speeding on the way home from Packer’s Roost that he also accelerated and struck Walker’s vehicle at least twice with his vehicle.

The pair are set to be arraigned on Nov. 23.
