WEEKEND UPDATE: Ski sale in Whitefish

The Big Mountain Ski Club’s annual ski sale is this weekend at The Wave in Whitefish. Today is consignment day. Bring in your good, used sporting equipment and clothing between 1 and 7 p.m. Memberships may also be purchased today.

Doors open for the sale at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for ski club members, and 9 a.m. for the general public. The sale runs through 4 p.m., with pick up of unsold items from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Big Mountain Ski Club is a nonprofit service organization that offers free ski lessons for kids with a club membership. Proceeds from the sale go to fund the ski program and support other worthy organizations.


Voices of the Wilderness

Voices of the Wilderness presents an evening of storytelling from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today upstairs at Casey’s in downtown Whitefish.

People will share campfire stories about close calls, awe-inspiring landscapes and encounters with bears and more from their experiences in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex.

Enjoy food and drinks, live music and dancing, a silent auction and raffle.

Tickets are $15 online at www.bmwf.org/events or at the door. All proceeds support the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.


National adoption day

KittyMOM’s Rescue will be at Petco for National Adoption Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. All kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed and litter box trained, raised in foster homes and some were bottle fed.

The adoption fee is $55 for kittens and $45 for adult cats. Bring a carrier. KittyMOM’s Rescue is an all volunteer nonprofit organization. For more information, call Darcy at 752-4460.


Harvest Dinner in Somers

The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department hosts its 53rd annual Harvest Dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Somers Fire Hall, 27 Lesley Ave.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings will be served. The cost for adults is $13; children ages, 4 to 10, $7; children younger than 3, free.


Glacier Nordic potluck

The nonprofit Glacier Nordic Club hosts its annual potluck and benefit auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Moose Lodge in Whitefish, located at 230 W. 10th St. Bring the family, a dish to share and your own plate and utensils.

A silent and quarters auction of items from local merchants will be held.

The event supports the club’s trail grooming at the Glacier Nordic Center at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course and the Nordic trails on Big Mountain, as well as youth ski programs. Either a membership or a day pass is required to ski at the Nordic Center.


Flathead Tiny Talks

The Montana Outdoor Legacy Foundation sponsors Flathead Tiny Talks, a community event and fundraiser from 7 p.m. Saturday at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.

Eight presenters will each give an eight-minute talk based on the broad topic, “People Connecting with Place.”

Tickets are $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit Montana Outdoor Legacy Foundation.


Bingo fundraiser

The Ferndale Sewing Circle is having a pie and bingo fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Community Center across from the Ferndale fire hall on Montana 209.

Homemade pie, ice cream and beverages and bingo cards will be available. Proceeds go to local needy families and charities.


Weekend holiday bazaars

Central Christian Church has its annual bazaar and baked goods sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The church is located at 248 Second Ave. E. in Kalispell.

The Heritage Museum’s Holiday Bazaar takes place this weekend in Libby.

Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Woodwork, jewelry, photography, artwork, holiday and home decor, needle-crafts and specialty food items will be for sale.

All proceeds from table sales of donated items and gift will go directly to the museum.

The cookhouse will sell homemade creamy potato and vegetable beef soup today and hamburgers and hot dogs Saturday, along with pies and other desserts.

A raffle will also be held. First prize is $100 cash, second is a $100 gift card to Cedars Restaurant and Spirit Lounge (formerly Tory’s).

There are more than 25 third prizes donated by participating vendors.

Epworth United Methodist Church in Kalispell has its annual holiday bazaar and luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church at the corner of Second Avenue East and Third Street across from the Hockaday Museum of Art.

Arts and crafts by 14 local artisans will be featured. Locally made baked goods will also be for sale.

Coffee and sweet rolls will be available from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Turkey noodle soup and a taco soup lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A silent auction will and bake sale will also be available.

All bazaar proceeds support United Methodist Women’s mission projects.

Trinity Lutheran Church has its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Handmade gifts, decorations table linens, quilt hangings and international baked goods will be for sale.

Cinnamon rolls and coffee will be available to purchase and a soup lunch will be available to buy from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The church is located at 400 W. California St., in Kalispell.

The Marion Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary hosts its annual holiday craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Community Hall at 180 Gopher Lane. Santa will be arriving at noon. Homemade soups, cornbread and pie will be available for lunch.
