FAITHS ROUNDUP: Presbyterian church holds prayer vigil in Kalispell

First Bible Presbyterian Church in Kalispell will hold a prayer vigil on Monday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in recognition of the Day of Prayer for Our Nation.

The public is welcome anytime during the prayer session.

Civil rights leader to visit Kalispell next weekend

On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13, Glacier Unitarian and Universalist Fellowship will host civil rights leader Dr. Finley Campbell.

On Saturday Campbell will lead a workshop entitled “Telling the Story: Creating Multiracial Unity in Predominantly White Communities and Fellowships.” The purpose of this workshop is provide participants with the means of fighting racism in all its forms, including residual elements within themselves. On Sunday, Campbell’s sermon will be “The Rainbow of Steel: Multiracial Unitarian Universalism.” The service starts at 10 a.m.

Campbell is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta and holds a Ph.D. in American literature from the University of Chicago. He has taught at both institutions, as well as the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Malcolm X College and Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Campbell’s varied political career has included working with the Black Panther Party Educational Project in Indiana from I969-1972, as a candidate for Congress and governor on the Indiana Peace and Freedom Party from 1970-1972, and a founder and co-chair of the International Committee Against Racism from 1973-1993.
