LETTER: Letter set world record for bashing Obama

| November 20, 2016 7:00 AM

Mr. Robert Seymour, you have now set the world record for Obama bashing. Your vitriolic and racially prejudiced epistle in the Daily Inter Lake on Sunday Nov. 13 echoes precisely what the Republican House and Senate have been attempting to do for eight years rather than do the work they were sent to Washington to do. Their single mission, by their own admission, was to “get” President Obama. Nothing constructive has been accomplished or presented by the majority Republican Congress during that entire time.

Mr. Seymour, your acrimonious and hateful statements are the reflection of an extremely unhappy and vengeful personality. You accuse President Obama of many things both foreign and domestic while never mentioning that conservative Republican George W. Bush fanned the flames of unrest in the Mideast with an unprovoked invasion of Iraq and now 14 years later numerous wars continue. You overlook the fact that the people in Moscow held a parade to celebrate Trump winning the Electoral College and that Vladimir Putin sent a personal congratulations to Trump. You called President Obama a lazy feckless Marxist henchman and yet you have no comment on Trump’s close relationship with the communist leader. You accuse President Obama of taking elaborate vacations at the taxpayers’ expense and yet you over look the fact that billionaire Trump pays no taxes.

The Russians hacked the Democratic campaign files and made the information available to the Trump campaign to be used against the Democrats. The Russians are skilled at using high-tech methods to influence elections worldwide, and Trump was an easy mark for them. When interviewed on “60 Minutes,” Trump back-pedaled on many of the outlandish promises he made during his campaign, most of which were meant to win the vote of the disgruntled voter.

He made the statement that he was going to “drain the swamp” and now he is filling it with alligators. I have voted in every presidential election since President Harry Truman held the office, sometimes Democratic and sometimes Republican. Never have we had a candidate win the Electoral College that is so disconnected from the American people. He represents the very rich, the 1 percent, and morally and spiritually he is a terrible role model for our nation and the world.

One last word of warning to the senior citizens like myself. House Speaker Paul Ryan has a plan ready to privatize Social Security and use the voucher plan for Medicare. Heaven help us. —Jerry Reckin, Kalispell
