LETTER: 'Liberal lament' really just more socialist dogma

| November 20, 2016 7:00 AM

Ryan Lawlor’s “postmortem liberal lament,” published in the Nov. 13 Daily Inter Lake, is a scurrilous attempt at humor that fell as flat as a Bill Maher homage to George Washington.

Actually, I was stunned to see how far Mr. Lawlor wanted to take the defeat of Hillary Rodham Clinton at the poll booths. His obvious hatred of anyone who disagrees with his line of thinking is right off the press of socialist dogma. But therein lies the primary reason for my response to Lawlor’s Gestapo-style rhetoric.

Mr. Lawlor, you made one observation in the second paragraph that had the odor of a month-old rotten dead rat. You are so into your progressive agenda you could not even recognize one of the most genius parts of our Founding Fathers’ gift to us as a nation. You said, “It’s high time we nuked the outdated Electoral College in favor of one person, one vote.” Wow! That is close to being one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever heard. Of course that would guarantee a socialist society drawn by the votes of those who live on each coast. Middle America would never again have a say in the direction, the legislative agenda or the special laws we all live by.

The brilliance of the Founders was their prescient insight of how the Ryan Lawlors of the United States would give notice of their hatred and acrimonious ideology and desire a country that only the selected majority would rule. It would seem to matter not to you, sir, that Montana would never have a voice, except the one you wanted to see emanating from either coast.

There is nothing more for me to say about such a hate-filled, anti-American, anti-Christian fascist-oriented piece of garbage. I commend the newspaper for honoring their commitment to publish the opinions of all citizens but it must have been really hard for the editor to print something that begs for the description of propaganda and rhetorical filth. Actually I looked long and hard for some piece of your screed that might give evidence of a person who truly cares, but alas, it was not to be. The people voted. And for the moment we still live in a country that honors its sacred Constitution, with its guarantees of freedoms and liberties and especially the right to speak out and be heard. You were. So now, have I.

By the way, Mr. Lawlor, if you decide to leave the country there is a group getting ready to leave from Hollywood. They might enjoy having you in their corner since misery truly does love company. —Jerry Molen, Bigfork
