LETTER: A thankful letter

| November 24, 2016 6:00 AM

I am thankful for the recent thought-provoking actions, statements and letters to the editor by Kirk Falcon, Mark Agather, Mick Ruiz, and Bob Brown.

Their efforts speak to the ethics, courage and considered nature of these men: Kirk Falcon writing so movingly on his witness of child abuse; Mark Agather, a longtime supporter of schools, critiquing the unusual “timing” of the school bond election; Mick Ruiz, a developer with a conscience, allowing the Frank Lloyd Wright building in Whitefish a reprieve from the wrecking ball; and last, but not least, Bob Brown, the Valley’s Mr. Republican, taking a position against candidate Donald Trump for president.

These men had the opportunity to speak their minds and bring their opinions to our attention because in America we can have opinions without losing our property or our heads to the sword. At our Thanksgiving table this year, please take a moment, as I will, to give thanks for the rights we have as Americans. —Karlene Osorio-Khor, Kalispell
