A Kalispell woman has pleaded not guilty to two felony charges filed for allegedly stealing more than $40,000 from her employer.

Candice Annmarie Aston, 23, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Flathead District Court to felony deceptive practices and felony theft, a common scheme.

According to court documents, Aston allegedly wrote herself checks totaling $33,387.69 from the bank account of her employer, Taylor Insulation. She also is accused of charging an additional $9,596 to the company’s credit card without permission. The alleged theft was reported to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 8.

Aston allegedly admitted to making the charges and writing the checks when she was interviewed by deputies on Sept. 29.

In a call earlier this month to the Daily Inter Lake, Aston denied the allegations, but would not comment further.

A jury trial is set for March 27.
