LETTER: Satire or sadistic?

| November 27, 2016 11:00 AM

To those you too young to remember the Rowan and Martin Show (In which Goldie Hawn got her start) or the Smothers Brothers, you missed the world of funny political satire. But every once in a while, the Smothers Brothers crossed over the line of satire into cynical and eventually they paid a price for it by cancellation of their show by the network. But not once, did any of these comedic shows go after the president’s wife or family or the president-elect’s wife or family.

Today, the liberal press and the far-left loons cannot accept the fact that they lost an election and their progressive poster child, Hillary Clinton, was beaten by a complete political novice. They cannot control their anger towards the new president-elect, but they have also taken it upon themselves to mock his wife and his family with all sorts of skits designed to be funny in some respects, but degrading to the individuals in other respects and present to an audience a moronic view of the next First Family.

The latest being the attack on President Trump’s wife Melania and the mocking of her accent by some female twit comedian. Melania actually speaks five different languages, so English is a second language to her with her European accent.

What the far loon left doesn’t understand is, the more this kind of cynical satire is employed, the more Trump fans it brings into the fold for the new president. —Jim Garvey, Kalispell
