A 39-year-old woman shot in the upper thigh on Sunday evening had what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to a press release issued Monday by the Kalispell Police Department.

Kalispell Detective Cpt. Doug Overman said that although officers have determined the individuals responsible for the shooting, no suspects had been taken into custody or charged in connection with the incident.

“The circumstances around the shooting are still under investigation,” Overland said. He did not cite a reason for the shooting.

Responding officers determined the shooting occurred inside a Woodland Avenue residence prior to 7:33 p.m., according to the release.

“The female initially shared she had been walking along Woodland Avenue and heard a ‘pop’ noise, discovering she had been shot through the upper thigh,” the press release stated, adding that the woman originally reported she had been walking in the area of Woodland Park and East Center Street.

The woman was transported by private vehicle to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Overland said.

Kalispell Regional spokesman Jim Oliverson said the woman was treated and held in observation before she left the hospital Sunday night.
