Maintenance man mistaken for bank burglar

A pedestrian on told a Whitefish police officer they had seen a man trying to break into a local bank. The officer found the man, who was actually a janitor at the bank. 

A small SUV on Monday crashed into a cement mixer.

A Whitefish resident reported a neighbor leaving their trash cans out in the alley too long. The caller said they were concerned because the trashcans could attract bears into town.

A woman reported her keys had been stolen from a car that had broken down on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. Dispatch told the woman that a Columbia Falls police officer had taken the keys from the car because the windows were broken out and the keys were left on the seat.

Someone reported that traffic lights in Columbia Falls had stopped working due to a Monday power outage.

A man told dispatch he believed that one of the several items stolen from him was located at a Kalispell pawn shop. The shop told the man he would need an officer to accompany him to the shop if he wanted to retrieve the item.

A Columbia Falls man wanted another man cited for trespassing on the caller’s construction site.

Dispatch received a call from a driver who thought a traffic light’s cycle needed adjusting.

A convenience store employee called dispatch when it looked like a man and woman stole some cigarettes and other items from the store. After getting the man’s name, Columbia Falls police found that he had been cited for trespassing at three locations, including the convenience store from which he had allegedly stolen some items.

A registered violent offender called Kalispell dispatch to find out if he could have a BB gun or a bow and arrow.

A resident wanted to talk to a Kalispell police officer about a potential nearby drug house.

Someone received a fraudulent check in the mail for an item they were selling online.

A woman called Flathead County Animal Control for help “getting rid of some cats” around her residence.

An employee noticed three suspicious-looking men at her U.S. 93 North business and asked dispatch to send a few officers to speak with them. However, the woman told dispatch that the officers could not come inside the store, due to company policy.

A man reported someone knocking on his windows in an attempt to get the caller’s girlfriend to do some meth. The caller said the same man at the window had knocked his front door down two days earlier, so he was now holding a rifle to keep the alleged drug user away. The man had left the window over the course of the call, and the homeowner said he would call back if the man returned.

Someone reported a dog had been left in a car overnight after noticing the car was completely frosted over.
