Man reports run-in with North Fork 'patrol'

A man was counseled by Flathead County Sheriff’s Office personnel after he drove from Polebridge to the department in Kalispell to complain that he had been stopped by a North Fork “patrol” person who was allegedly not really law enforcement. The man claimed the faux patrol person had stood in the middle of the road in order to get him to stop, and then had reached inside the person’s vehicle without permission.

Extra patrol by an animal control officer was slated for Hungry Horse after someone reported that a pack of 15 or 20 dogs was running amok near U.S. 2.

Someone reported that a utility trailer full of tools and ladders had been stolen from Whitefish Stage sometime in the past week.

A man in Lakeside was told that he would need to get an officer to do a civil standby after he allegedly sent his mother to retrieve his property from a former lover’s home. The mother allegedly tried to break in to get the property, and frightened a teenage girl who was home alone. The man then called to complain that the ex-girlfriend had allegedly stolen money and wouldn’t let him have his things. This did not change the responding officers’ mind about whether a civil standby was warranted or not.

Two teen boys were counseled about where they can and cannot hunt after they were allegedly caught shooting rabbits with bows and arrows on private property without permission. The caller told law enforcement that video footage indicated that at least one other teen was involved, but the property owner was out of town, so the caller was unsure if charges should be filed.

An air traffic controller at Glacier Park International Airport reported that someone had allegedly used a laser pointer to point at a plane. It did not cause landing issues.

One woman was taken to jail after someone reported a physical disturbance on U.S. 2 in which two women were allegedly throwing kitchen China at each other.

One minor was detained for alleged possession of alcohol and another person was taken to the hospital after someone called from Caroline Road and said that there had been a vehicle accident in a field off Zimmerman Road in which one person had hit her head. The vehicle had allegedly been the suspect of a reckless driving complaint earlier in the day.

A man was told that he had been scammed after someone called pretending to be a cable company worker, asking for a social security number for an upgrade. A deputy spoke to the cable company, which reported that the man had been a victim of a wide-reaching scam.

Someone in Somers was told they could turn felines into a shelter after four cats were reportedly dumped on a property.

Someone reported that a concession stand on U.S. 2 outside of Columbia Falls had been broken into.

A deputy was sent to Columbia Falls to help a disabled woman who was unable to chase off coyotes on her property. The deputy did not find any coyotes when he investigated.

Columbia Falls Police officers responded to a grocery store where someone had allegedly forced a toddler into a vehicle after it was found running around in the roadway. The toddler had allegedly been left in the running vehicle with a screaming 5-year-old. The mother allegedly returned to find one child missing. An informational report was logged.

Whitefish Police took a report from Second Street East, where a man reported that his door knob had been broken off so someone could enter his home and make off with two guitars and a computer.

Two Bear Air Rescue flew to Bonner, Idaho, to help search for a missing hunter.

Kalispell Police counseled five men who were allegedly drunkenly boxing in a public park.
