CROSS COUNTRY: Annie Hill back on top in Butte
BUTTE — Glacier junior Annie Hill got back to her old form on Saturday, torching the field to win the Butte Cross Country Invitational by more than 21 seconds.
Hill, who finished 12th in last week’s Mountain West Invitational, set a course record at the Highland View Golf Course by finishing in 16:40.3. It is the second-fastest time in the country this season according to DyeStat.
Hill, who fell to No. 11 nationally after the poor performance in Missoula, topped ninth-ranked Tiahna Vladic of Billings Senior by a healthy distance. Vladic finished in 17:01.9. Flathead’s Kaitlin Wride finished fifth in 17:58.9.
Senior won the girls meet with a team score of 71, easily outpointing Missoula Sentinel at 108. Glacier finished fourth and Flathead ninth.
The Glacier boys won the other side of the meet, scoring 70 to outpoint Sentinel by 67. Brock Adkins led the charge for the Wolfpack, finishing ninth in 15:55.3. Elijah Boyd finished 11th and Joseph Vanden Bos 16th.
Flathead’s Ben Perrin finished third in 15:25.9 and Jaden Anderson was eighth in 15:44.7.
Sentinel’s Marshall Beatty won the meet in 14:56.4 and Great Falls C.M. Russell’s Cooper West finished second in 15:05.2.
