Whitefish City Council meets

Whitefish City Council at their regular meeting Oct. 3:

• Approved a construction contract with Watson Excavating for the construction of tennis courts at Riverside Park. The total amount for the project is $183,258.

• Approved a preliminary engineering report for the wastewater treatment plant and authorized its submittal to the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.

• Approved a resolution of intent indicating its intent to consider annexing 44 properties of wholly surrounded land into the city.

• OK’d no parking zones along portions of East First Street.

• Authorized city staff to proceed with a negotiated sale of bonds for the parking structure special improvement district up to $880,000.

• Voted to reject a proposal by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce to lease the Depot Park building after it’s vacated.
