LETTER: Are we in the final stages of economic collapse?
The economic details of recovery espoused by Donald Trump are commendable and would be useful in a structured, orderly republic, but that is no longer the case in America.
We’re in the last stages of an economic collapse, aided by trans-national corporations like Apple that don’t want to pay taxes in America, but have now gotten in trouble for not paying taxes in Ireland, where they skated on 15 percent taxes, paying only one-tenth of 1 percent. Big shot Apple CEO Tim Cook pleaded to buy the speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, a steak dinner ... I think that’s what he wanted to “buy,” in return for protection last month, even though he despises America’s constitutional rule and tax codes.
Meanwhile our educational system, both primary and secondary, is indoctrinating children with philosophy rather than working-skills. For decades the entrenchment of gutless left-wing teachers, gilded with tenure, have enjoyed promoting social and sexual agendas.
Since this does not take place in other nations, we are in the 18th percentile of nations in education ... but now we have our macho NFL admonishing North Carolina to produce transgender restrooms or else they won’t play in their state. Well, I’ll consider that when they start using female quarterbacks! Or perhaps stand up for our National Anthem.
Hypocritical?
We have teachers, who mostly live in suburbia, delivering sermons on social injustice to our inner-city students, who need tangible trades and skills to escape poverty and get into suburbia. But they agitate, not educate. Math, business, science and computer technology have been placed on a back-burner, while school administrators try to re-create “Woodstock” where everyone is equal, and everyone loves each other, no matter who they are — unless they’re Christian.
To avoid the inevitable economic crash and the introduction of draconian measures upon our country, which will come with either political party, two elements have to be introduced. First, mandatory military service for all qualified citizens; second, universal vetting of our educational system. We can do it with the traditional ethics of the U.S. military. If one is worried about illegal immigrants and young terrorists, just draft them. Allow no one over 20 years old to be standing idly on a street.
The United States military has always been the chief source of acculturation, but has been replaced by Hope and Change lunatics — Obama’s “pocket change,” I suppose!
But before such a time, no amount of monetary manipulation by banks, commonly called negative interest on loan-sharking or demagoguery by detached presidents pontificating on changing the planetary atmosphere, will save this confused country from imploding. —Mike Donohue, Kalispell
