LETTER: Just how can the elderly take care of snow removal?
I always enjoy the “letters to the editor” column as it gives us a chance to share our thoughts.
A short time ago a letter prompted me to write. It was from an 80-year-old named Janet. I live in Kalispell on a corner lot. I know I am expected to clear the snow from my driveway and sidewalk. I get so upset when winter comes, as I am 91 and have balance and walking problems. I cannot possibly shovel snow and it is very hard to find help. I would be happy to pay a neighbor, but they all have their own to do.
I really wish that our city could find a way to help the elderly and disabled with this problem. Agency on Aging will try to help but it is a job people soon give up. It’s very hard as we want to stay in our homes, so what are we to do? We need help. I know — no one said life would be easy.—Marie Williams, Kalispell
