LETTER: Rangers are there to protect visitors AND wildlife

I am writing in response to the letter from the person who was putting down the park rangers at Glacier Park for scaring the bears off. The rangers are not there to ruin your experience at Glacier Park; they are there not only to protect the tourists, but also the bears and the other wildlife that reside there. That’s right — it is the home of the animals, not yours. Do you know or care what happens to a bear when it is no longer afraid of people, or it attacks someone? It pays with its life! It seems to me that is a pretty high price to pay for a photo. Maybe if you want a picture, you should go to a zoo. —Pam Neukirch, Kalispell
