OPINION: A proud Democratic campaign button - and a stolen yard sign

As current president of the Flathead County Democratic Women, I am a proud wearer of a Hillary Clinton campaign button. I have been encouraged by the number of people stopping to say how happy they are to see my button and my support of Hillary. This happened at the farmers’ market, on the street, and even in the restaurants I have visited all this past week.

It often seems to require courage to be a Democrat in this conservative county, but not this year, with Republicans running a hopeless incompetent for president and local candidates with extreme views — namely Taylor Rose and Chet Billi — not to mention candidates (such as Gianforte) with old, tried-and-failed economic and tax platforms and devious proposals aimed toward selling public lands (also Zinke) and initiatives to repeal provisions making health insurance now available to lower-income Montanans. This year it’s refreshing to be a Democrat!

Until last night I also had a Hillary sign in my front yard. I spent $20 on a raffle ticket to win it and was proud and happy to display it, as I truly believe that Hillary is by far the best choice we have in this election. It is truly disheartening, therefore, that some contemptible person, probably making his contribution to the Trump campaign, was so shameless as to steal the sign from my yard. The sign was private property displayed on my property and deserved to be treated as such. Theft is theft!

Trump doesn’t pay much or any income tax, and his supporters steal yard signs. And this man wants to be our next president? No way!
