Access to Logan Pass in Glacier National Park officially closed for the season Tuesday following the recent winter storm that dropped nearly 2 feet of snow on some areas of the park.

“We’ve got a significant amount of snow on the east side and typical winter weather type damage on the west side as well,” said Glacier spokesman Tim Rains on Tuesday.

Going-to-the-Sun Road is now closed on the west side at Avalanche Lake to the foot of St. Mary Lake on the east side. Rains said 18 inches of snow was recorded near St. Mary and Many Glacier, and 22 inches have settled at the Two Medicine area.

The North Fork Road is closed at Doverspike Meadow, Polebridge South Gate and Fish Creek due to weather and damage to the road caused by past flooding. About 6.5 miles of the southern North Fork Road is open to Camas Creek north of the Fish Creek junction.

The Camas, Many Glacier and Two Medicine roads were all closed due to weather, according to the park’s website Tuesday morning. The Cut Bank road is closed for the season.
