LAW ROUNDUP: Man not fooled by relationship scam
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office advised a man that a woman trying to contact him on Facebook was probably a scammer after she allegedly left him messages claiming she would get $800,000 from her father’s estate once she “has a man.” The woman asked for the man’s bank information. The man was told to block the woman.
A deputy told a transient man and woman staying in a tent set up in some bushes on the outskirts of Kalispell to move along after the woman’s mother called. The mother was worried about her daughter being out in the cold. The mother had tried to help the daughter, but drug and relationship issues seemed to stand in the way.
A different woman called to ask for help in finding her adult daughter, who was allegedly using heroin despite the fact that she was nine months pregnant. Because the woman did not have any idea where the daughter might be, authorities were not able to help, other than to offer assistance when the daughter was located.
Someone reported finding a burned sedan on Good Creek Road in the Olney area.
A man wanted a phone call from a deputy about what charges might be in play after he was found unresponsive in a vehicle from a suspected overdose of heroin a few days before. A message was left for the deputy.
A man called and asked if there were any rules about bounty hunting in Flathead County.
Columbia Falls Police moderated an argument between an upset contractor who allegedly cursed at someone because $14,000 had not been paid for work. The person who answered the phone claimed they were not the person who owed the money and did not appreciate the foul language.
Four Canadians were told they were not welcome back at a bar after they allegedly started a fight and threw some quarters at the person who asked them to leave.
Whitefish Police took a report from a woman who reported that she had been drinking downtown the night before and left her vehicle on the street. When she returned, she found that her tire had been slashed.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman on Reserve Road who reported that a dead bear was in her driveway.
Kalispell Police took a call from a person who warned that he was going to be in the park using unloaded rifles as a prop for photographs, in case anyone called about a suspicious person.
A caller did not have a specific description of a woman seen with three shopping carts tied together at a grocery store.
A man was counseled about parking in a downtown lot without a proper permit after someone reported the man had allegedly gotten very angry at another driver who had parked on Main Street. The man allegedly screamed, hit the other driver’s window three times and then reached into the vehicle and grabbed the driver’s face. The man admitted to grabbing the driver’s face, but the driver did not want to take the issue to court.
