Curtis J. Supan, 61

Curtis J. Supan, 61, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, at his residence on Swan Lake.

He was born on July 24, 1955, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Curt graduated from Hill Murray High School in 1973 and then from St. Thomas College, where he was a member of ROTC, with a major in accounting. After graduation he was a navigator with the U.S. Air Force. Then, in 1983, he completed pilot training and served his country as an F-16 pilot. He served in many places, including Korea, Italy and Saudi Arabia. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2000 and then worked 5 years as a contractor training future pilots. He moved to the house of his dreams on Swan Lake in 2006. He enjoyed kayaking, golfing, hiking, boating and skiing.

Curt was involved with many community projects and was active at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Bigfork. He was proud to serve as a Knight of Columbus, a member of the Swan Lakers, a board member of Swan Sites Homeowners Association, and was especially talented in teaching many children how to ski with the Kalispell Ski Club.

Curt is survived by his wife, Mary, of Bigfork, and leaves behind his cat, Peanut; son, Eric (Pam) and daughter, Jennifer, of Jacksonville, Florida; grandson, Coby, and granddaughter, Kate. He is also survived by his mother, Jean Supan of St. Paul, Minnesota; sisters, Lynn (Darrell) Rask and Terry (Robert) Bullen-Smith; and brother, Jeff Supan, and niece Alexandra.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 18 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Bigfork, followed by a luncheon. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul with military graveside honors.
