LAW ROUNDUP: Trash fire extinguished quickly

Kalispell Police and Kalispell Fire Department were sent to a hotel on U.S. 93, where someone was concerned that the building was on fire because of smoke in the area. Responders found a fire in a trash can, which was quickly extinguished.

A man called from North Main Street to report that his birth certificate, Social Security card, checkbook, $40, and some other items had been stolen by a man and woman.

A woman on Eighth Avenue reported that someone had put sugar and diesel in her gas tank.

A woman on Ninth Avenue West reported that the locks had been ripped off two of her backyard sheds, but that nothing appeared to have been taken.

A woman on Seventh Avenue East North reported that the license plates had been stolen off her vehicle again.

A man on Fifth Avenue West reported underage drug usage, prostitution, and drug activity in the area. He did not want to give further details to dispatch.


Columbia Falls Police gave advice to a woman who said she had been scammed out of $3,000.

Whitefish Police took a report from someone who said that a woman had been spotted driving with a toddler on her lap on U.S. 93. An officer was unable to locate the suspect.
