BILLINGS — Christian Zygmond scored three goals in the span of three minutes in the first half as Billings Central rolled to a 7-0 victory over Whitefish in quarterfinal action of the Class A boys soccer playoffs on Saturday at Wendy’s Field.

He added a goal at 58 minutes.

Caleb Wall had two goals and an assist. Camden Elletson had the other score.

Billings Central led 4-0 at the break.

It was the same score as the first meeting during the regular season on Sept. 10, also in Billings.

“On the scoreboard .... yes,” said Whitefish coach John Lacey of this match being like the last one.

“No on the stats.”

Whitefish had 15 shots on goal to 23 for Central (11-2-0).

Whitefish led in corner kicks 7-4.

“Three goals in three minutes,” he said of what changed the complexion of the game.

“We started off playing with them. We made a couple mistakes in the back and they pounced on us. It was blood in the water. Their team is experienced. They have a very dymnamic offense.”

Lacey said the Bulldogs (4-8-0) had a golden opportunity for a score in the second half, “but we didn’t get one in.”
