The Flathead County commissioners will hold two public hearings Monday to consider proposed zone changes, one for a residential area in Evergreen and the other for suburban agricultural land outside of Whitefish.

At 10:30 a.m. Narda Wilson, on behalf of Patrick Mackin, will present a proposal to change the zoning designation on four parcels on East Evergreen Drive and Harmony Road from R-2, one-family limited residential, to R-4, two-family residential zoning. The lots encompass about 6.8 acres.

According to the planning staff report, the proposed zoning map amendment appears suitable for the character of the district and doesn’t appear to constitute spot zoning because the zone change would allow for the same uses existing in the within the residential zoning neighboring the property.

At 10:45 a.m. the commissioners will hold a hearing to consider zone change on 17.4 acres at 465 Armory Road outside of Whitefish, from SAG-10, suburban agricultural with a 10-acre minimum lot size, to SAG-5, suburban agricultural with a 5-acre minimum lot size.

The property is bordered on the north, south and east by SAG-10 zoning and to the west by the city of Whitefish. Historically the property was used for agriculture.

The commissioners meet on the third floor of the Flathead County Courthouse, 800 Main St. in Kalispell.
