HELENA — Helena Capital scored 32 seconds into the match and added another in the eighth minute to put Flathead away early in a 4-0 shutout in the Class AA girls soccer playoffs on Friday afternoon.

Flathead played tough throughout the game but couldn’t crack the Bruins after the early deficit. Capital added a third first half goal in the 21st minute for a 3-0 halftime lead.

Flathead controlled play in the second half, but couldn’t get anything past Capital keeper Aryn Cummings.

“We had several good shots on goal,” Bravettes coach Jenni Sipe said. “Their keeper had some nice tips over the top (of the net).”

Capital scored its final goal in the 52nd minute. Flathead keeper Aaris Hill saved a penalty kick but Capital’s Ashley Carlson was able to find the rebound before the Bravettes defense, netting the goal.

Capital outshot Flathead 14-10 in the win, but Sipe wasn’t upset with the effort in Flathead’s final game.

“I feel like we outplayed them but we got outscored,” Sipe said. “Obviously give them credit, they put the ball in the back of the net. The girls played well despite the score.”
