WEEKEND UPDATE: Potluck, farmers market, wine tasting and more

Big Arm potluck

The Big Arm Association hosts a fall potluck potato bar with a variety of toppings at 6 p.m. today at the historic Big Arm School. Guests are welcome to bring a dessert to share.

A presentation titled “Potato Farming Then and Now” begins at 7 p.m. For more information, contact N. Foster at 849-5064.


Farmers Harvest

The Kalispell Farmers Harvest and Holiday market takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Expo Building at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.

Shop indoors for fall decor and gifts, jewelry, the last of summer’s produce, from pumpkins and squash to carrots to beets and greens, along with fall fruits and honey.

Fresh made pies, cookies and treats will also be available.


Conrad Mansion clothing tour

The Conrad Mansion Museum offers a 90-minute curator-led historic clothing tour, “Celebrating 100 Years of Fashion 1868-1968” at 9 a.m. Saturday. More than 20 mannequins will be dressed in a century of fashion linked to the history of the Conrad family in Montana.

The cost is $28 per person, or $25 for members. The price includes a 14-page booklet of the collection. Reservations are required. Call 755-2166.


Wine tasting

Mission Mountain Winery hosts a free vertical tasting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday as part of its continuing program to educate about the aging and care of fine wine.

Sample its wines from older to younger vintages, starting with a 1998 vintage pinot noir and followed by the 2001 and 2006 vintages. Mission Mountain Winery is located on U.S. 93 in Dayton on the west shore of Flathead Lake.


Baptist church garage sale

First Baptist Church has its annual garage sale today and Saturday. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

Proceeds benefit local outreach programs.

The church is now handicap accessible and is located at 301 W. Wyoming St. in Kalispell.


Harvest Bazaar

First Presbyterian Church has its annual Harvest Bazaar and luncheon from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Homebaked goods, produce, plants, handcrafted gift items, books, and a large selection of next-to-new items will be for sale.

The luncheon is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features homemade soup, pies and bread.

Proceeds go to local charities.

The church is located at 540 S. Main St., in Kalispell.


Halloween Hustle

Bring your family to the Halloween Hustle 5K Saturday at Lawrence Park in Kalispell. The event gets under way at 2 p.m. and is a costume run/walk/jog along with a 1-mile Trick or Trot.

Drumming circle

The Deep Bay Center Earth House hosts a “Where Eagles Soar” Happy Rhythms Drumming and Talking Circle led by Pat Bowen, spiritual life coach healing facilitator, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The event is free. Bring a drum if you have one.

The center is located at 100 Deep Bay Dr., in Lakeside.


Apple festival

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson hosts its annual Apple Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Homemade apple pies will be for sale in a 10-inch size for $10, and 6-inch size for $5, perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

The event also features many vendors and a lunch with choice of sandwiches and slices of pies for dessert.
