Heritage tops Stillwater in boys state soccer final

BOZEMAN — Three second-half goals carried Heritage Christian School to a 3-0 victory over Stillwater Christian School in the championship boys soccer match Saturday at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state tournament.

Heritage outshot Stillwater (10-9-1 overall) on goal 14-8 and led in corner kicks 6-0.

Heritage defeated Stillwater during the regular season 7-0.

“The guys played really well today,” Stillwater coach Ryan O’Rourke said.

“They worked very hard and executed our game plan very well. We’re not happy with the results, but happy with the effort.”

The Falcons finished the year 15-1, scoring 125 goals and allowing 18. For the past two seasons the team is 32-1, scoring 245 goals and allowing 34. Smith was named tournament MVP

Foothills beats Stillwater for state volleyball title

BOZEMAN — Foothills Community Christian School survived a five-set thriller, defeating Stillwater Christian School 12-25, 25-12, 23-25, 25-15, 15-10 on Saturday in the championship match at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state volleyball tournament.

Foothills finished the year 25-0.

Last year the Falcons went into the championship final undefeated, but were beaten by Stillwater.

 Stillwater had won the state title the previous seven years.

“We were happy to get a chance to play Stillwater again,” Foothills coach Meleea Lindseth said.

“They are great opponents that always rise to the occasion.”

Foothills senior captain Josey Lindseth was the tournament MVP.

  Stillwater advanced to the championship match by defeating Great Falls Home School 27-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-20 earlier in the day in loser-out play in the double-elimination tournament.

Columbia Falls spikers sweep Stevensville

STEVENSVILLE — Morgan Stenger had 15 kills and KJ Schweikert three blocks as Columbia Falls spilled Stevensville 26-24, 25-17, 25-16 in a Class A nonconference volleyball match on Saturday afternoon.

Cydney Finberg led Columbia Falls in assists with 34 and aces with two.

Millers lead Three Forks past Troy 54-6 in football

MISSOULA — TJ Miller caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Colter Miller and ran 16 and 8 yards for two more scores as Three Forks (1-8) whipped Troy 54-6 in Class B nonconference football action on Saturday afternoon at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Colter Miller also had a 45-yard touchdown run.

Mason Chapel scored on a 2-yard run for Troy (0-9) in the fourth quarter.

It was the final game of the season for both schools.
