School Calendar
— A relationship-building class for parents and teens is planned from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Flathead Valley Community College. “Parents and Teenagers: Bridging the Gap,” will be led by Sam Herbert, a retired mental health professional. Herbert will work with parents and teens to help identify communication style. Causes of conflict and strategies to manage and resolve them will also be covered. — A Red Ribbon Week swim night is planned at The Summit from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Admission is $1 with a red ribbon and free for Summit members. Limited to the first 50 children.
— West Valley students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Oct. 26.
— There will be two movie screenings of “The Peanuts Movie” at 4 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cinemark Signature Stadium 14 in Kalispell in recognition of Red Ribbon Week. Admission is free with a red ribbon. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the show starts. Parents and guardians should not leave their children until they have tickets.
— The public is invited to attend “Operation Drug Free,” a community presentation with Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Christopher Cavanaugh, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Glacier High School performance hall in recognition of Red Ribbon Week.
— Flathead County 4-H has planned an Interstate Exchange meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the 4-H building in the fairgrounds.
— A teen social will be held from 4 to 5:40 p.m. Thursday at ImagineIF Kalispell Library. Teens in grades six through 12 are invited to attend in costume and make a cake using a mug. There will be free food.
— Kila School is holding its fall carnival from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and it is looking for people to donate bags of candy.
— Middle school students are invited to attend a Halloween dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Linderman Education Center, 233 First Ave. E., Kalispell. Costumes encouraged, but no masks. Cost is $3 with a red ribbon.
— Two concerts benefiting Flathead CARE are planned from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Oct. 29 featuring Kelley Sinclair of the Gladys Friday band. Friday’s concert will be held at Bigfork Performing Center for the Arts, 526 Electric Ave, Bigfork. Saturday’s concert will be held at Flathead High School, 644 Fourth Ave. W., Kalispell, in the auditorium. Tickets are $29; children 14 and under are free with an adult ticket holder. Call 393-2581 for tickets, or purchase at the door.
— Celebrate “Creatures of the Night” at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29. The event on nocturnal animals will feature games and crafts geared to ages 4 through 9. Costumes are encouraged. Cost is $4.
— Flathead 4-Hers interested in shooting sports may register from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 or Nov. 5 at the 4-H building at the fairgrounds.
— There is no school Oct. 31 for Evergreen students. It is a teacher work day.
— Nov. 3 is picture day at Smith Valley School.
— Kila students will have an early dismissal at 2 and 2:20 p.m. Nov. 4.
— Flathead High School senior portraits for the yearbook are due Nov. 6.

— West Valley School will hold a holiday craft show, silent auction, bake sale and festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19. The craft show is a fundraiser for the school.

— Flathead 4-Hers registered for shooting sports should attend orientation at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Expo building at the fairgrounds.
