LETTER: Trapping is torture and abuse; vote yes on I-177

| October 25, 2016 6:01 PM

To vote against I-177 is to endorse the blatant torture, killing, and degradation of other sentient life by asking all of Montana people to vote for trapping on public lands.

To vote against I-177 will continue to allow the torture of animals, birds, and domestic animals. I feel ashamed that there are some fellow humans who choose to torture and kill other animals without regard for the long suffering, pain and death inflicted. There is no reasonable or rational argument to support trapping. Trapping is not a sport; it is not hunting. Trapping is nothing but a blatant abuse, torture and killing.

Please vote yes for I-177. This comes from a native Montanan who was lucky enough to have a father who taught me the value of all living beings. If I were in charge, all trapping would cease. It is morally correct to end trapping. Yes, that is a value judgement. —Mary Jane Barrett, Kalispell
